What is Cold Brew Coffee?
Redefining Coffee Liqueur
Conker was the UK’s first Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur. But what actually is cold brew coffee?
Take a read as we explore the Cold Brew Coffee process and why we chose cold extraction to create the world’s best Coffee Liqueur.
We needed a different approach.
When we set out to create a new breed of coffee liqueur for coffee lovers, we knew we wanted to abandon the status quo of relying on flavourings.
A hard ‘NO’ on flavourings means developing a blend of different coffee origins, each contributing a specific component of the flavour we were looking for.
But coffee doesn’t just hand over these flavours easily… they have to be coaxed out with a roast profile sympathetic to each coffee origin, and then brewed just right to bring out the best characteristics of the coffee.
Cold brewing does exactly that.
Coffee in its purest form, with all its complexity, depth, and natural sweetness intact.
Swapping out heat for time.
Boiled water will do its work in a matter of minutes. Rapidly and indiscriminately stripping the coffee bean of all its flavour, for good and for bad.
Cold water, however, relies on time, not heat. 24 hours in our case – slowly entrusting natural diffusion to carefully extract the coffee flavours from the roasted coffee grounds.
This gentle, slow extraction process preserves the notes of dark fruit, vanilla and chocolate in our speciality-grade coffee – without the bitterness you get from hot extraction.
Cold Brew Qualities.
- Smoother, Less Bitter Flavour – Heat extracts oils and acids quickly, often leading to bitterness. Cold brew avoids this, creating a naturally sweeter, silkier coffee.
- Lower Acidity – less acidic than a hot-brew, cold brew can be easier on the stomach.
- Concentrated & Versatile – Cold brew is often made as a concentrate, meaning you can enjoy it as espresso strength, or dilute it with hot or cold water or milk.
- Naturally Sweet & Chocolatey – Because cold brew retains the coffee’s best qualities, it enhances coffees’ natural caramel, chocolate, vanilla and fruit notes.
This is why we use cold brew extraction in Conker Coffee Liqueur—it allows us to deliver a full bodied spectrum of flavour, without the resorting to adding flavours.

It doesn't taste like coffee, it IS coffee.
Conker Coffee Liqueur is essentially an alcoholic Cold Brew Coffee concentrate. This means that it’s as infinitely versatile as a regular non-alcoholic cold brew.
It will surprise you long with tonic in our Café Spritz, or coffee twists of classic cocktails like a Coffee Negroni.
It will shake up the perfect Espresso Martini without the coffee machine. Just shake over ice with a touch of water.
This works because a true Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur is all the ingredients to an espresso martini; Coffee, Vodka, sweetened with a touch of demerara sugar.
So all you need to do is get shaking wherever the moment takes you!
